Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) Conducts Weekly Sampling for Harmful Algal Blooms
WEB, August 9, 2024 - The state of Nebraska has issued a health alert for Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), also known as toxic blue-green algae. The toxic blue-green algae has been identified at Maple Creek Recreation Area Lake in Colfax County.
NDEE conducts weekly sampling for Harmful Algal Blooms. Cyanobacterial blooms are a global concern because of their ecological impacts and potential for producing toxins that can be harmful to humans and animals.
